Tournament Director's Report:

February 2009 Tournament Report

It started out as a good day for fishing.  Mild temperatures in the mid-50 with a calm, light rain.  For once, the weather man was right - boy how we hated this.  Temperatures dropped at least 10 degrees,  the rain steadily picked up - and the wind started to howl.  The weather was simply horrible.  But the fishing couldn"t have been much better.  Brandon Purvine teamed up with the quiet but confident Kevin Slater to grab a new club record for total weight on a one-day tournament - 29 lbs 15 oz.  Young Brandon demonstrated his skills in snagging the big ones in the March 2007 tournament.  He put his skills to use on Jordan helping Kevin bring home the bacon - looks like he will be pinging dear-ole-dad for the keys to the truck-n-boat soon to continue his education.

The rivalry for angler of the year took a break today as two top contenders were teamed together.  Ed Marti on Jordan in February- what else need I say?  This time he teamed up with Bryce McClenney to take a solid 2nd place with 23 lbs, 14 oz. Its got to be hard coming to terms with a 2nd place with their impressive back of fish.

Andy Edmondson showed Doug DeWitt that the two little lockers at the back of his boat had a purpose other than use as coolers.  They hold water!  When you catch a fish, this is where you put them to keep them alive.  Doug and Andy captured 3rd place with 16 lbs, 10 oz.

A total of 22 fish were caught by 8 teams with an average fish weight of almost 4 lbs.  We"ll forget about the weather in August with 90+ degree temperatures and only a few tiny fish.
